The history of "Pisse-Dru" is a bit like the history of Beaujolais.

The origins of the vineyard date back to the Middle Ages.

But it was not until 1955 that the wines took on a name that was out of the ordinary, taking up a very old expression dear to the winegrowers of the region: over there, at harvest time, they say that the grapes "pee thick" when they release their juice in abundance.

Committed to promoting their know-how, the winegrowers spared no effort and even saved the ancestral tradition of Beaujolais primeurs, while a decree on the date of marketing of the wine threatened to make it disappear. But thanks to their mobilization, this historical specificity of the vineyard will finally be made official, and this is how the annual celebration of "Beaujolais Nouveau" will see the light of day.

A wine to read or a book to taste?

Conceived and created by the Reverse Innovation agency, Librottiglia is the encounter between the tasting of excellent wines and the pleasure of reading. The characteristics of each product are combined with a narrative genre, to give life to eno-literary experiences based on the perfect balance between the sensory suggestions and the scenarios imagined in the stories. Six authors have been involved in this collection of small and exciting stories that accompany the wine selection. The special 375ml format was chosen as the ideal container to express the concept of the project: a short story to read while sipping two glasses of an excellent wine.

According to legend, three wine merchants came to the town of Zell (in Germany) to buy wine. They were about to sample out of a barrel when a black cat suddenly jumped on it, arched its back, and swiped its paw at anyone who approached it. The wine merchants chose the barrel guarded by the cat thinking it held the best wine.

Zeller Schwarze Katz wine sold so well that wines from this vineyard in Zell have maintained the name since. But Moselland was the first and only winery to actually market their wine in a black, cat shaped bottle! Now there are many colors, finishes for holidays, and a special pink bottle to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Research.
